Your DD2745 from 12/10/05 and the large gathering of a hate group on cronila beach...I think you may be talking about Cronulla Beach...

 Elle MacPherson is from Cronulla.
Cronulla Beach is located 45 minutes drive from Sydney, when there is not a traffic jam! Cronulla is truly a
magic part of the world. If ever the phrase "a million miles from worry" was true, Cronulla Beach is it.
Highlights include the great surf, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, local pubs and watering holes and parks.

Thanks Kay, posted your information

Brian,
Cronulla Beach is in Australia and Lebs is a derogratory term used by a white supremicist group in Australia, the Stormfront Nationalist Group, for migrants of Lebanese origin.  As for Woge, the only thing that came up under a Goggle search is that it is a last name.  I will see if I can get anything else with more research.

Thanks for the info.
Have a wonderful day,

This article isn't very clear on who is attacking whom.  Mostly it is white
people attacking Muslims.  They have their reasons though.  There have been
many cases of Muslim on white rape in Australia.

RACE-fuelled violence spilled into other Sydney beaches tonight.

A police media spokesman confirmed there had been problems at Maroubra
beach, following the near-riot at Cronulla beach earlier today.
"There have been a number of incidents of property damage in the past
hour-and-a-half that included broken windows and damage to motor vehicles,"
he said.

Reports on radio station 2GB indicated up to 50 vehicles with passengers
armed with "baseball bats" had been causing trouble in Maroubra, in Sydney's
east.

Police have set up a command post in the area, 2GB reported.

Sky News reported that a group of people in cars and with baseball bats,
bits of wood and stakes, had "slammed every single car" in some streets.

"The windows were smashed out", one report said.

One eyewitness reported every car in a section of Maroubra Road had had
their windows and windscreens smashed, and glass was littering the road.

In Wride Street, a group of 50 local people chased after the offenders on
foot before disappearing into units in the area.

An eyewitness said one man, believed to be of Maori or Polynesian descent,
was "bleeding profusely" and taken in by locals.

There were also reports of crowd trouble at beachside suburbs of Kyeemagh
and Brighton Le Sands, in Sydney's south.

Revenge attacks in race war
David King and Dan Box
December 12, 2005 GANGS of youths embarked on a series of "hit and run"
revenge attacks across Sydney's beachside suburbs last night after a day
of racial violence that saw mobs rampage through Cronulla, in the city's
south, bashing anyone of Middle Eastern appearance.

Scores of cars in the eastern suburb of Maroubra had their windscreens
smashed and tyres slashed in what police fear is the first sign of
retaliation by members of Sydney's Muslim community.

Local MP Michael Daley said the suburb was hit by youths wielding
baseball bats and sticks after "a cavalcade of hotted-up vehicles"
arrived at 8.30pm.

"They smashed cars and everything they could lay their hands on," he
said. "I never thought I would see the day this sort of damage hits this
city."

Police, who said it appeared the men were of Middle Eastern descent,
said the convoy then moved to the Maroubra beachfront, where several
people were injured in an "altercation".

Hundreds of police were last night patrolling the city's eastern and
southern suburbs after a day of violence that started when as many as
5000 locals gathered in Cronulla to protest against increasing number of
visitors, particularly Muslims, after an attack on a lifeguard last week.

The crowd at North Cronulla started by drinking beer and waving
Australian flags. But, fuelled by alcohol and an SMS and email campaign
to "bash" anyone of Lebanese appearance, the crowd started chanting
racist slogans aimed at people of Middle Eastern origin.

Despite a heightened police presence and a well-publicised threat of
prosecution against vigilante behaviour, at least four people were
bashed when the crowd attacked anyone they thought was "a Leb".

One Muslim woman was targeted by the crowd and was forced to shelter in
a kiosk while an angry mob outside chanted racist slogans, including
"kill the Lebs", "kill the wogs" and "go home Lebby scum".

Two ambulance officers were injured when they came under attack from
locals hurling beer bottles. Police used capsicum spray, batons, dogs
and mounted patrols to control the crowds and to protect those who were
being attacked.

At least eight people had been injured late yesterday, including two
ambulance officers, one of whom was struck on the head with a bottle.
Thirteen people had been arrested, with at least four charged with
either affray or assault.

Speaking before the revenge attacks, NSW Police Commissioner Ken Moroney
condemned the violence as un-Australian, saying he was "ashamed as a man
and as the Commissioner of Police".

"By any test, by any measure, that which we have seen here today is
clearly un-Australian," he said. "It's not Australian to adopt a mob
mentality and assault women. I have never in all my working days seen
anything as un-Australian."

He promised more arrests and defended the police response.

NSW Premier Morris Iemma said the hooligans would face the full force of
the law. "The behaviour of the crowd at Cronulla today was disgraceful,
cowardly and will not be allowed to continue," he said. "These hooligans
have brought shame upon themselves."

Sutherland Shire Mayor Kevin Screiber also slammed the violent crowd and
attacked the racist text messages circulating in the area, which called
for "Aussies" to retake the beach by joining "Leb and wog bashing day".

Cronulla locals have been tense since last weekend, when a lifesaver was
allegedly bashed by two men of Middle Eastern origin.

They claim increasing numbers of visitors from the western suburbs are
abusing women and threatening people at the beach. A mass email and SMS
campaign called for a rally yesterday to "reclaim the beach".

Throughout the day the crowd surged towards anyone of Middle Eastern
appearance. Two young men were chased into a chicken shop, where they
hid from a group that smashed a window. The young men were eventually
taken away by police.

Far-Right groups, including Australia First, distributed inflammatory
literature at the beach, as did skinhead groups.

Australia First NSW secretary Jim Saleam confirmed that his group had
been distributing anti-multicultural and anti-immigrant literature at
the beach.

Mr Saleam also confirmed the group had helped mobilise people for the
demonstration.

Many youngsters said they were attracted to the event by a sense of
nationalism, with people bringing flags and barbecues.

They parked their utes at the beach, with stereos blasting.

Tim Gosper, 19, of Menai in southern Sydney, said he and his friends had
come to the beach to "support Australia, support our country, throw a
barbie and have a good time".

But he was aware of the anti-Middle Eastern sentiment. "I'm not saying
all the wogs and the Lebs are that bad, but there's a certain group who
harass and cause trouble," he said.

Another man, who called himself Steely, said: "Our women have been told
they're going to be raped because they're wearing bikinis. These people
try to stop our way of life."

Locals in Maroubra last night reported gangs of Middle Eastern men
walking toward the beach, taking sticks and baseball bats to the cars.
Others described a battle on the beachfront and around the Maroubra Bay
Hotel.

Estimates of the numbers of men of Middle Eastern descent involved
ranged from 50 to 200.

Resident Tom Taylor, 26, said "all of these wogs with baseball bats,
probably 50 if not more, came flying around the corner".

"One warned me. He said, 'Mate, you better get out'. Then the others
shouted, 'Kill him' and started chasing me down the street. Then the
Aussies arrived. "They all came out of the pub and drove them back up
the street. One of the Aussies got smashed. They jumped on him. I
thought he was dead."

Nation's day of shame
Luke McIlveen, Kara Lawrence and Peter Trute

THEY called it a day of pride, but it will go down as a day of national
disgrace.

Thousands of drunken youths descended on Cronulla, south of Sydney,
yesterday to begin the race riots police had feared, and which were to
continue to trigger violence into the night.

"I'm an Australian, I was born here," a Middle Eastern youth told locals
who had taunted him with chants of "Kill Lebs".

Minutes later, he was punched to the ground and kicked, before being led
to safety by police. Bashings continued during the day, as two girls of
Middle Eastern appearance were pelted with beer bottles, a teenager who
was said to be minding his own business was chased by a mob and bashed,
and a man was cornered against the back of a utility and beaten.

The day began as a show of solidarity as thousands of locals draped
themselves in Australian flags and called for peace in their suburb.

Up to 150 police were positioned beachside to cope with the 5000-strong
crowd.

But, as the beer flowed, the huge crowd became violent, roaming the
streets in search of a target for their anger.

Threats had been made since two volunteer lifesavers were bashed eight
days ago – and yesterday the crowd was looking to get square.

"What the Lebs did last week was low, and it's time we showed a bit of
pride towards where we live," local volunteer lifesaver Luke O'Brien said.

Ambulance officers treated dozens of injuries, mostly from broken glass
or assault-related injuries.

Shortly before 3pm, word spread that a Lebanese gang was arriving at
Cronulla train station. Some of the mob began searching the train for
anyone of Middle Eastern appearance.

They found two males and began bashing them before police intervened,
using batons as they dragged the youths off the train and formed a human
shield around the station to force back the crowd.

About 4.20pm, near the North Cronulla Surf Club, a brawl broke out and
six males were injured. Police called an ambulance, which was attacked
by the mob as it left.

They threw bottles, smashing the ambulance's windows, then tried to kick
in the doors. one ambulance officer was struck in the head with a bottle
and another was cut on the arm by shattered glass.

Five of the six patients in the back, who were suffering injuries from
the assault, were taken into the care of police, while the sixth man was
taken to St George Hospital suffering injuries to his face and body.

By 5pm yesterday police had arrested six people.

NSW Premier Morris Iemma said the hooligans involved yesterday would
face the full force of the law.

"The behaviour of the crowd at Cronulla today was disgraceful, cowardly
and will not be allowed to continue," Mr Iemma said.

The mob violence spilled over into Maroubra last night when car loads of
youths of Middle Eastern descent swarmed to the suburb, smashing cars
and attacking police.

A woman was bashed, a youth reportedly stabbed, and another man admitted
to hospital after being beaten with a bat.

In Maroubra, in Sydney's east, more than 100 cars had their windscreens
smashed by the youths armed with bats and crowbars.

One car was set on fire in Malabar Rd by a molotov cocktail thrown from
a vehicle.

One group of youths leapt from a red Pulsar in Maroubra Rd brandishing a
pistol and yelled: "This place is ours."

Rachael Cooney had the windscreen and windows of her sedan smashed by a
group of men with crowbars. "There were about 50 of them running down
the street chanting in Arabic," she said.

The day had begun like any normal Sunday in Sydney. Families enjoyed a
morning swim and early cloud gave way to brilliant December sunshine.

By noon the beach-front concourse at North Cronulla to the city's south
resembled a summer cricket match with thousands of bare-chested locals
drinking beer and chanting slogans.

A group of mates ran a sausage sizzle from the back of their ute.

But as the beer flowed the day began to turn ugly. Cries of "eff off
Leb" goaded the crowd which had reached several thousand by 1pm.

Just after 1pm the throng descended on Northies bar where a "Leb" was
rumoured to be hiding.

The mob screamed for him to show himself with several chanting "string
him up".

They eventually found three Middle Eastern youths in front of North
Cronulla Surf Club and the inevitable happened. one of the Middle
Eastern youths challenged the crowd to a fight.

Locals bombarded him with punches then kicked him when he went down.
Bleeding from facial cuts, he was led to safety by dozens of police.

There was more beer in the sun and more trouble to follow.

Two girls of Middle Eastern descent were the next victims.

As they walked along the street another group of teenage girls pushed
them to the ground and assaulted them. The baying crowd erupted again,
this time with calls of "cat fight" and "kill the Leb bitches".

Police parted the crowd and pulled the girls out, rushing them through a
side entrance of Northies Hotel.

Many in the crowd showed off tattoos of the Southern Cross, a badge of
honour since two volunteer lifesavers were bashed at North Cronulla
eight days ago.

Ironically, the mob nearby sang I am, You Are, We are Australian. It may
have begun as a show of pride but by day's end it was a display of the
ugliness of humanity.

Paramedics injured as mob attacks
11-12-2005
From: AAP
TWO ambulance officers were injured when an angry mob attacked their
vehicle during violence at North Cronulla Beach in Sydney.

The ambulance was transporting six injured youths under police escort
when the crowd descended upon the vehicle and began hurling beer bottles.
Windows on the ambulance were shattered and its panelling dented from
kicking.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said one officer was hit in the head with a
bottle as it passed through a broken window.

A second ambulance officer received lacerations to the arm. A police
officer in the vehicle was not hurt.

The six patients were taken to an area away from the crowd where they
were assessed by doctors.

One patient was taken to St George hospital with unspecified but minor
injuries.

The other five were released.

Dozens of people have been treated for minor cuts and bruises, and some
have been decontaminated for capsicum spray, the spokesman said.

Violence erupted at Cronulla today when more than 5,000 people converged
there after simmering racial tension and disputes between beach users
flared last week.

Racial Unrest Strikes Australia

Dec 12, 4:30 AM (ET)

By MIKE CORDER

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - In one of Australia's worst outbursts of racial violence, thousands of drunken white youths attacked police and people they believed were of Arab descent at a Sydney beach, angered by reports that Lebanese youths had assaulted two lifeguards.

Young men of Arab descent retaliated in several Sydney suburbs, fighting with police and smashing 40 cars with sticks and bats, police said. Thirty-one people were injured and 16 were arrested in hours of violence Sunday.

The city was calm Monday, and police formed a strike force to track down the instigators, some of whom were believed to be from white supremacist groups. Police said they were also seeking an Arab man who allegedly stabbed a white man in the back.

Prime Minister John Howard condemned the violence, but said he did not believe racism was widespread in Australia.

"Attacking people on the basis of their race, their appearance, their ethnicity, is totally unacceptable and should be repudiated by all Australians irrespective of their own background and their politics," Howard said.

But he added: "I'm not going to put a general tag (of) racism on the Australian community."

Australia has long prided itself on accepting wave after wave of immigrants - from Italians and Greeks after World War II to families fleeing political strife in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. In the last census in 2001, nearly a quarter of Australia's 20 million people said they were born overseas.

However, tensions between youngsters of Arabic descent and white Australians have been rising in recent years, largely because of anti-Muslim sentiment fueled by the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks in the United States and deadly bombings on the Indonesian island of Bali that killed 88 Australians in October 2002.

About 300,000 Muslims live in Australia, the majority in large cities."Arab Australians have had to cope with vilification, racism, abuse and fear of a racial backlash for a number of years, but these riots will take that fear to a new level," said Roland Jabbour, chairman of the Australian Arabic Council.

The riots apparently began after rumors circulated that youths of Lebanese descent were responsible for an attack last weekend on two lifeguards at Cronulla Beach. Police said the assault was not believed to be racially motivated.

Police had increased the number of officers patrolling the beach in the Sydney suburb on Sunday after cell phone text messages urged people to gather there to retaliate for the attack.

Police said more than 5,000 white youths, some wrapped in Australian flags and chanting racist slurs, fought with police, attacked people they believed to be of Arab descent and assaulted a pair of paramedics trying to help people escape the riot.

Police fought back with batons and pepper spray. Many of the youths had been drinking heavily, police said.

One white teenager had the words "We grew here, you flew here" painted on his back. Someone had written "100 percent Aussie pride" in the sand. TV broadcasts showed a group of young women attacking another woman, whose ethnicity was not clear.

The violence shocked this city of 4 million which prides itself on being a cultural melting pot.

"What we have seen yesterday is something I thought I would never see in Australia and perhaps we have not seen in Australia in any of our life times and that is a mass call to violence based on race," Community Relations Commission chairman Stepan Kerkyasharian told Sky News.

"Our disgrace," said a front page headline in Sydney's Daily Telegraph. Below was a picture of white youths attacking a man who appeared to be of Arab descent on a train in Cronulla.Keysar Trad, a prominent member of Sydney's Lebanese community, said he had spoken to one victim who was released from the hospital Monday and was urging for calm.

"He doesn't want any retaliation by anybody from a Middle Eastern background," Trad said. "He wants everyone to allow the rule of law to take its course, leave it to the police and he said he holds no grudges against anyone."

Morris Iemma, the premier of New South Wales state, said police would use video images and photographs to track down the instigators. "Let's be very clear, the police will be unrelenting in their fight against these thugs and hooligans," he said.

Cronulla, one of the few beaches in Sydney that is easily accessible by train, is often visited by youngsters from poorer suburbs, many of them of Arab descent. Residents accuse the youths of traveling in gangs and sometimes intimidating other beachgoers.

Cronulla is several miles south of iconic Sydney beaches like Bondi and is not a popular destination for foreign tourists.

Aborigines rioted in the Sydney neighborhood of Redfern in February 2004 after blaming police for the death of a 17-year-old boy. Forty police were wounded, eight of them hospitalized, in a nine-hour street battle with residents.

This did occur at Cronulla beach in NSW Australia. Vist any Australian news website eg news.com.au for further details. It is a response by a mob of hooligans to ongoing threatening behaviour by persons of certain ethinic origin.
Something did need to be done about this ongoing problem, but it didn't need to be done like this.

Rhonda, I agree with you.

Brian,

My husband is British and when I told him about the Lebs and Woge on your prediction, he said that Woges is a derogatory term which means something like West oriental gentleman - this derogatory term is used by biggots to describe blacks.  This may have been something that was also chanted during the riots?  Especially if these people were KKK.  This may have been a reference to black muslims?
